Who is Travis Smith and What's on This Site?

I'm one of the founders of Hop Studios, a Web design and development company with clients in the United States and Canada.

You may simply want to contact me or learn about me.

My resume is available in a bewildering variety of formats. You could try to hire me, but I'm already happy doing what I'm doing now.

Writing

I write often. I write a personal column (aka blog) that I update every few days -- the latest is What’s there to do in Alaska? posed on Jun. 15, 2009.

I've written for the Los Angeles Times, Variety, OJR... but nothing recently as a freelancer. I also write several blogs: one with interesting links I find, and one interesting quotes I like. And I write for Metroblogging Vancouver.

Photography

I take photos of many people, places and things. I also post many pictures on Flickr, where I am the administrator of several group pools.

Daily Trojan Alumni

I administer the DTLink, an accounting I've compiled of the current bios of more than 2,100 alumni from the Daily Trojan, USC's student newspaper. That site is currently on hold, until I can find a better system for handling updates.

Other Wacky Stuff

There's this chronicle I keep of folks' foibles at "I Have a Friend Who ...". You can suggest one.

I developed several two-player JavaScript games (tic tac toe and connect 4). They're fun, and very well thought out. The design is circa 1997.

Old Stuff

Back when I was a student at USC, I wrote a weekly column called Half Past Deadline. I've also written a simple story about a cat, and I'm pretty sure someone stole the idea and made a bad, cheap, straight-to-video movie based on it.
