Being Different Can Make All the Difference

January 19, 2009

image Hop Studios is pleased to announce the launch of a companion site to Roy Osing’s soon to be released new book Be Different or Be Dead. The book offers itself as a survival guide for businesses with practical advice on how to navigate the turbulent waters of the current economy. It draws on Roy’s extensive knowledge as a business executive, entrepreneur and leader.

The site builds further upon the ideas expressed in the book and offers a variety of ways to connect with Roy through workshops or seminars, a virtual consulting service and a blog. A neat feature of the site is the Organizational Assessment tool. People can take a quiz of forty questions, rate themselves on a scale of 1 to 5, and see how their business measures up to the concepts they’ve read in the book. The results can be eye-opening.

Announcing: Deeploy Helper Module for ExpressionEngine

January 9, 2009

Like many ExpressionEngine developers, we at Hop Studios have occasionally been surprised by an issue caused by a path or URL setting in one of EE’s many configuration panels.  Wouldn’t it be great to have all those path and URL settings on one page?  We thought so.  That’s why we coded up the Deeploy Helper.  It’s a very simple module—just one page, one button, and all the URL and path settings we could think of.

If you think the Deeploy Helper sounds like something that might help you build great EE sites, please be our guest.  You can download it here.

Please note: This is a preliminary release, available for testing.  Let us know if you have any suggestions or questions.  And, as with any power tool, please be cautious to avoid lopping off any crucial bits.

Gossip and Secretaries

January 9, 2009

image Gossip Secretaries is a newly conceived blog that is the brainchild of bloggers Donna and Jenny. They are hoping to cater to an audience of young female administrative assistants and secretaries. The idea behind the site is to offer a place online where office workers can share their daily experiences, frustrations and successes with one another. The site features an ultra-feminine design with a colour palette in many shades of pink, and offers users the opportunity for participation through custom polls, and a forum called “The Conference Room”.
