For the 2006 Canadian elections, Hop Studios provided forum moderation support for the CBC. They wanted people who knew how to encourage community building, who were well aware of the vagaries of libel law, and who were able to handle the technical aspects of the forum software as well.

While working on the site, we staffed 24 hours a day, and not only kept the forums clear of spam and hate talk, we also help diagnose and fix several technical glitches that threatened the forum’s success.

And it was a success; by the end of it, the forum of every riding in Canada had seen at least some participation, with some forum threads generating stories for the CBC and others generating hundreds fo comments, especially in some of the more emotional and contentious races.
