Our client Alex Brabant, owner of eMarketing101 and leading expert in Search Marketing, is also a French Canadian with an interest in connecting Vancouver’s French speaking people. He was fed up with the limited online social networking options available to Francophones, and came to Hop Studios with the idea of developing a site catering specifically to the local French-speaking community. The name Francouver was chosen for the site, and Alex intends for it to be the main source for news, events, and to offer many possibilities for interaction.
A playful logo was developed based on the design of a classic French Canadian fleur de lis. Alex is as enthusiastic about ExpressionEngine as we are so there was no doubt about Francouver getting EE installed as the CMS. The current site, launched in November 2008, is a first phase of the project with many possibilities under development for the future. A member login was set up for private interaction between participants, as well as a news blog, an events blog, and a photo gallery. In phase two, members will have access to these features to add their own content and help build Francouver into a vibrant online community.
This is one of several sites we’ve built with Alex; he keeps coming back to us and loves recommending us to new clients. We think he’s pretty great, too.
