Nan Nassef is a doula based in Calgary, Alberta, who came to us wanting a Web site that would feel friendly, accessible and appropriate for her business, without being covered in baby blocks and pastel colors. Turns out, most Web sites for birth professionals have a pretty consistent look; Nan wanted something that was a little more “her.”
The Heket Birth and Baby Services site came together based on Nan’s input and a logo designed by Big Mike Studios. A sophisticated but friendly color palette, and some engaging graphical elements make the site attractive and comfortable, and of course the functionality and organization also make it easy for current and prospective clients to find what they need.
Heket offers online and in-person workshops and classes, complete with online registration and payment tools, and tons of well-researched resources for soon-to-be parents. We can’t reveal all Nan’s secrets, but she has plans for some neat features down the line that will make the Web site even more useful to her audience. Currently, the site offers some fairly sophisticated logic relating to scheduling events, displaying related content, and allowing easy registration for workshops.
The site was built using ExpressionEngine 2.x, and set up so that Nan can update it herself.
"The folks at Hop Studios advertise themselves as offering: good. clean. fun. And you know what? That was exactly what I got when they designed my website. After trying to design one on my own, I had built up a fair amount of websitexiety. Although I knew I needed to have a website as a key piece of my marketing and client-interaction strategy, I wasn't looking forward to the process of putting it together.
"Enter Hop Studios.
"If I didn't meet the actual people involved in putting my site together, I would swear the place was run by a group of elves who ate nothing but magic and rainbows and awesome. Everyone I worked with was: caring, responsive, helpful, humourous and willing to work with my sometimes vaguely articulated desires to make a product that, frankly, I was incapable of imagining beforehand.
"If I could give you one piece of business advice it would be: hire Hop.
If I could give you another piece of advice it would be: trust them to do more. better. faster."Nan Nassef
