Tina Newton is a client who has happily been keeping us busy with designing and maintaining blogs for the Rockin’ Sock Club and her business Blue Moon Fiber Arts. In 2008 approached us with a third project, a web site for the Sock Summit, an knitting event held in August 2009. Tina wanted to have a web site live in September 2008 in order to promote and build buzz for the upcoming Sock Summit event, and provide a place for interested parties to sign up to participate.

The first draft of the site was simple: one page featuring the integration of four different newsletter sign-up options for teachers, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees interested in receiving updates. The relatively simple site was built in ExpressionEngine, which gave us the ability over the next year to expand, and expand, and expand.

The site included multiple sections covering information about teachers, detailed class information, a schedule of classes, accommodations, and vendors. The site also included a restricted access login section for vendor info to allow the organizers to carefully screen and inform vendors selling at the Sock Summit.

The registration, Sock Museum wiki, and design were all done by third-parties and hooked up to the site.
