The Think Salmon Web site is a community-building outreach effort of the Pacific Salmon Foundation that encourages active story contribution and interaction by site visitors.
Hop Studios worked on the Think Salmon Web site as part of a broader team. Our role as developers let us dip our fins into many aspects of the final product. The site was designed by Hop Studios, and we developed the content management system that allows its editors to publish content, and users to contribute stories.
The site exposes the publishing system tools safely to visitors who can share anything from a simple comment, to a story, to a photo, even contribute an event to the site calendar. In addition, Hop Studios created an archive of past PSF grant projects that profiles the project work and budget.
Finally, the site allows visitors to specify a geographic location for their story, mapping each contribution to a Google Maps interface that lets visitors quickly find stories about their geographic location. We believe it was the first EE-based integration with Google Maps.
