The graduate journalism program at UBC needed a Web site overhaul; their site was stale and hard to update. They also happen to be a bike ride’s distance from Hop Studios world headquarters. How could we say no?
We did the previous version of the site, 4 years ago: moved them to a new server, installed ExpressionEngine, redesigned their site, developed the HTML and extra functionality and trained their staff to do simple ongoing updates.
The new site keeps much of the same information structure, but is much easier for prospective students to navigate, and brings students, alumni and visitors directly to the information they need.
It also integrates Facebook and Twitter throughout the site; on individual content items and in the site navigation.
It’s not just easier to update—in some cases, it updates itself. Check out the Facebook box, and on the iTunes university podcast series. Nifty.
