This from the Web: "I graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Creative Writing and an MA from Stanford in English Literary Theory. Before attending Stanford I worked in Hollywood for the producer of the "Godfather" trilogy. It was then that I realised that Hollywood and script writing was not for me so I pursued an academic path. However, that too did not fulfil me. I needed to write poetry. A few months ago, after the birth of my daughter, I began to rediscover old poems I wrote and I began to rework then and compose new ones."

Adams, Arwen e-mail: abicknell-at-cq.com,abicknell01-at-comcast.net    Staff Writer, Student Senate Correspondent, Assistant City Editor, Chief Copy Editor    1990 - 1992
Now a Web producer for Congressional Quarterly, Arwen and her brood have ventured farther afield, buying a house 40 miles outside the District of Columbia, in the shadow of Manassas Battlefield. (Lots of room, visitors welcome!) She is happily married to John Bicknell, a defense editor at CQ, and they have a son, Thomas Israel, who will turn 2 in February. Also still hanging around are Gatsby, the dog, and Shays, the cat. Arwen's listing was the top one on the page for years, and so she has a special place in my heart. Previous haunts: the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, a San Gabriel Valley paper, the San Bernardino Sun.

Courtney (who has a very cool name) emotes: "I wrote in the city section, for some reason I wrote a good number of obituaries. Hmm.. I'm using my journalism skills to question my customers and then write proposals at Xerox. Translation, I'm in sales at Xerox and really like it. I miss the DT, how fun was that! I'm living in Santa Monica and enjoying the beach. I'm still running quite a bit, and am training for my 11th marathon. Drop me a line, and say hello." I dropped her a line, and it bounced, so maybe she's not with Xerox anymore.

Aguilar, Rosemary "Rosie"    Assistant Entertainment Editor, Staff Writer,    1985 - 1986
Rosie says: "During my tenure at the DT, I recall wanting to throttle a copy editor for changing "ditzy" to "dizzy." I remember reporting on Chippendale's and a phone sex line for women, and really, really pissing off the 'SC Drama Department with a scathing review. I also remember finding myself a DT Rat thanks to the delightful company of K. Turman, S. Okimoto, C. Perez, Joe McDade, K. Sweeny, and S. Schmeidel, among others. Well wishes to all DTers, past, present and hopefuls."

Anaya, Catherine "Cathy" e-mail: CANAYA-at-KPHO.COM Web page: http://www.kpho.com/Global/story.asp?S=1105900&nav=23KtHM9W
Catherine "Cathy" Anaya

   Staff Writer    1985? - 1988
Catherine Anaya is now a Noon and 5 PM news anchor at KPHO Channel 5 in Phoenix, Arizona. Previously, she was the morning and midday anchor for KCBS, I think, and also anchored the 4 p.m. show for awhile. Prior to KCBS, she worked for about four years in Phoenix at KPNX. As I hear it, every time she got a chance she plugged the Trojans. Before that, she worked at a station in South Bend (I'm sure the Domers like to hear about SC too) and Harlingen, TX. Anaya is (was?) the Vice President of the California Chicano News Media Association, Los Angeles Chapter. She is also an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Catherine Anaya writes a monthly parenting column in Los Angeles Family Magazine. She and her mother are featured in the May 2001 issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine.

Angelo, Michael Thomas e-mail: sanfrangelo30-at-sbcglobal.net    Staff Writer, Columnist (Sistine Comment), Gadabout    1992 - 1994
Michael Angelo began his USC Journalism career at the Daily Trojan City desk under the tutelage of Nep Smith and Kim (Blond). He wrote a series of arcane columns for the Diversions page entitled Sistine Comment, a twist on his famous name. He lost interest in the whole thing shortly thereafter but never forgot his few shining moments at the DT. He's now in San Francisco, doing things. Travis (Nep) adds: He was a ray of light in any room -- usually because of his brightly colored pants. He did write more stories than most other six people on any given day.

Antonette, Ron e-mail: rantonette-at-golinharris.com Web page: http://www.pcla.org/meetings/proawards.htm    Staff Writer    1988? - 1990?
Ron declines the honor of being an alumni for the good reason that he is not one: "While I am pleased to be included on the list, I am, sadly, no more a Daily Trojan alum than is Mariners outfielder Al Martin a Trojan football star. (Although, I was actually AT the 1987 Rose Bowl, and Mr. Martin probably was not.) I did "hang out" (if that's what you want to call it) at the DT and with many of the kind folks there during 1987-1990, and still count John Eberhardt among my best friends. But I was a radio geek, and helped Eberhardt program KSCR during the late '80s. Now, I work at public relations firm Golin/Harris, where I'm a v.p. in the Los Angeles office's consumer brand marketing group (we opened Tomorrowland and Disney's California Adventure, among other fun assignements). Leigh Otsuka steered me to Ron. A Web bio adds: Ron Antonette is a vice president of consumer marketing for Golin/Harris International, where he develops and implements marketing, media relations, and special events for clients including the Walt Disney Company, Forrester Research, Swatch, Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water, and Baskin-Robbins. He managed the media efforts for the launch of the Go Network (Go.com), and the launch of Amazon.com's toys, consumer electronics, and home improvement stores. He introduced the Earthworm Jim video game character for Playmates Interactive Entertainment, and initiated an award-winning media campaign for retailer Wherehouse Entertainment. In addition, Mr. Antonette managed the Southern California launch of the Peet's Coffee & Tea chain. He has also managed media relations for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and Rose Bowl. He currently oversees corporate communications issues for Playmates Toys. Mr. Antonette holds a Bachelor's in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and Public Communicators of Los Angeles.

She also values the involvement of best friends who Google her name because they are bored to tears at their dead end jobs.

Asch, Andrew e-mail: afasch-at-gte.net    Staff Writer    1993 - 1994
I'm hearing a voice, a whisper from beyond time -- I'm channeling someone, yes, someone from the DT... ".... a freelance journalist and write for MSNBC.com's Small Business page and the OC Weekly's pop music page. I worked at The Orange County Register from 1996 to 1999. I covered several cities for their community section, but also freelanced for every section of the daily paper except for Sports. Since graduation, I've only bumped into one DT person, Kyra Kirkwood. She was writing for the L.A. Times Community paper in the city of Orange. She also got married and had a new last name. It was good seeing her. I've done a little freelance for RollingStone.com. I got to cover Rage Against The Machine's concert/riot at the Democratic National Convention for them...." The voice is fading, fading, gone.

In the Spring of 2005, Creators Syndicate will begin to sell his column nationwide. Previously, he worked in USC's PR office for 11 years. Became a freelance writer and editor in 1999 and edited books on leadership by USC President Sample and Warren Bennis.

Melanie Asp

Editor, Everything else getting there    1993 - 1997   Personal recollections
Mel, though she's gone all TV, can still write great updates for me: "I just found out yesterday that I'm getting a 'Best Producer' Arizona Associated Press award this year (I'll find out if it's 1st or 2nd place in June)... and that's on top of getting Best Newscast in Arizona from AP last year. ;-) Catherine Anaya, former DT'er, is my anchor! Vince [see below] is making huge strides as an Emergency Room EMT, and he's back in school studying radiology." Mel took a job with the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, KPHO (www.kpho.com), as the new 10 p.m. news producer in May 2002. Melanie was a news producer at 10 news/WTSP, the CBS affiliate in Tampa/ St. Petersburg, Fla. She and husband Vince live with "Spartacus George Alvarez," a 75-pound English bulldogge and he is a true joy[e]. Melanie was previously previously working as a producer for KKTV in Colorado Springs, CO.

Ayala, Nancy    Unknown    1980? - 1982?
... When I left the sweat lodge, I carried with me a vision of a staffer named Nancy Ayala. Here are some mentions of her that I later found on Google: http://www.usatoday.com/life/travel/leisure/2000/ltl019.htm and http://www2.bxscience.edu/alum/1982/#A. I don't really know anything, though.
