Medina, Jennifer "Jenny"
Editor, City Editor, Projects/Training Editor, Assignment Editor, Staff Writer
1998 - 2002
Jenny is now back at The New York Times, as a Metro reporter. Ryan reports: Ask her if it's permanent and she'll say she's on 'probation' for three years ... but we all know it is in fact permanent, for as long as she wants. (Go, Jenny!) Before that, also before her Jerusalem, she'd been doing a one-year extension of her internship at the New York Times working on the education desk. Titles at the DT: Everything. Literally. Well, maybe not sports or Diversions editor, and she stayed away from photos, but everything else.

Faculty Adviser
1985? - 1989?
Update: headed to Berkeley for a UC Teaching Fellowship this fall and to work in S.F. Before that: Victor Merina was recently spotted at Unity '99 by Elisa Ung. He is now working for Poynter and the Freedom Forum in the Big Apple. Elisa talked to him a few weeks ago and he is lovin' it, getting free trips to Hawaii to make speeches and all kinds of fun stuff like that. He was at the Investigative Reporters and Editors conference in New York City earlier in June, leading a panel. He does diversity digests for Poynter's web site, says Elisa Ung. He was also spotted at the National Writers Workshop in Long Beach last spring, where he sang a duet with his son about journalism: "Bye, Bye, Pulitzer Prize" I think it was called, a knockoff from the famous McLean number.

Merone, William "Bill"
Staff Writer, Editorial Columnist, Assistant Editorial Director,
1988 - 1992
As they like to write in feature pieces, Bill "married his college sweetheart" (Kathy) shortly upon graduating from USC which, if you did not know it, entitles you to receive a very cute "Two Trojan Lovebirds" anniversary card from the university every year. Bill lives in Northern Virginia, has three small children, and works as an intellectual property attorney (patent, trademarks, copyrights) in Washington, DC. And although he never became a journalist (which is good given that he studied aerospace engineering), Bill became the EIC of the student newspaper at the University of Virginia School of Law and then thought it best not to push his luck beyond that.

Minichini, John
Features Reporter
1983 - 1984
John jokes: "Well, it's been 20 years,so I thought I'd drop a line. Today, 1-14-05, I opened up my local newspaper (Newsday, on Long Island, NY) to see the familiar DT masthead in the opening pages. The story was about how New York Yankee newcomer, Randy Johnson, was once a photographer for this beloved publication during my tenure there. I had no idea. Had I known him? I only remember the times he thrashed my beloved NY Mets when they were in the playoffs a few years back. Anyway, since he came to NY this week, Randy has made headlines because he "dissed" a photographer trying to take his picture. So there they lie-- pictures of Garrett Morris in Bovard; illegally parked cars on The Row; and a shot of Richard Butler from the old Psychedelic Furs-- all taken by Johnson when, he too, was an intruding photographer. Ta Ta."

1982 - 1983
As it's late, I'll let Molinski's natural way with words flow directly to you, dear reader: "I now hold two positions, as CEO of a financial media firm, Investing Across Borders, and as managing partner at a strategy consulting firm, Intellectual Capital Associates. I live in Marin County." Was (Jan 2001) at Scudder Weisel Capital, having left CBS. In October 1999, Mike had joined CBS Marketwatch as a reporter and lived in the San Francisco area. He has two children. He has authored a book on Latin American investing, an area he specializes in as a journalist. Steven De Salvo reported earlier that Mike was a foreign correspondent in South America for UPI; also a Latin American business reporter for Bloomberg, also a Badgett fellow (fellowperson?) at Columbia University. See why it's better when I quote instead of write?

Mullet, Scott
News Editor, Assistant News Editor, Staff Writer
1988? - 1989? Personal recollections
Scott slips this in: "After graduation I pursued my dream to be a professional juggler but stalled as I could never perfect the chainsaw routine. Grandma Bessie told me to get a real job and suddenly found myself in the investment management business. Firms saw my broadcast journalism credentials and immediately put me to work in marketing -- not sure if that was based on an assumption of ethical standards or schmoozing ability. Eventually married my USC sweetheart, Jenelle Marsh, who credits her one month as a staff writer at the DT in 1988 for prompting a switch from the J-school to the School of Education. I think she figured she had already gotten all she needed out of the DT since that is where she met me. At one point decided additional academic credentials would help and earned an MBA from UCLA. Jenelle and I recently moved to Seattle (my home town) and have two daughters."

Terry is a copy editor at the bible of the entertainment industry, Daily Variety, which is why she's always on top of the career moves of fellow DT alums Mark Gill and Mark Ordesky. In addition to copy editing, she lays out the paper at least once a week. As previously reported, she has dabbled in play writing and has had one play produced so far. In addition to play writing, she loves to write, direct and edit short films, and to do stuff with her kids. She had been the graphics/design editor of the Antelope Valley Press in Palmdale, CA. She started after college working as a copy editor/production editor for Adweek/Los Angeles and Adweek/New England until 1987, then for 9 years was a copy editor/news editor for the Los Angeles Daily News.

1993? - 1995? Personal recollections
After many, many years of being listed on this page, Alison herself finally contacts the DTLink with this: "Wow! Hello to all! It's very strange to find an update about yourself online. It's true...I am working for Banyan Productions in Philadelphia. I am currently a researcher/associate producer for "A Wedding Story" on TLC... from 1999 to the end of 2001, I worked on "Home Matters," a home arts show on The Discovery Channel." Last this editor heard from her was summer 1996, when she hung out in Anaheim. Troy Witt adds that in early 1998, Alison was working for the Santa Monica "Our Times" as a reporter. From there, she was promoted to the California Community News main office in Costa Mesa, CA, where the Daily Pilot is published; again as a reporter. Laura weighs in with rumors Ali moved back to PA in 1999. Jon Fox clears the air with this: "I am in contact with Alison Murray after a bit of a hiatus. She's now living near Philadelphia, PA working in TV production."
