Valerie joins (at the end of 2003) the features department at the L.A Times as an assistant section editor. Valerie worked at The Times as a part-time features copy editor from 1999 to early 2003. She also worked in the Valley Edition from 1988 to 1995, including two years as Valley View and Calendar editor and four years as assistant Valley Life editor. As a freelance writer, she has been a regular contributor to The Times' features sections since 1995, and she has been a writer and reviewer for national magazines and Web sites. From 1997-99 she was a senior editor and managing editor of HomeCare magazine. Her career in Los Angeles began at the Herald-Examiner, where she served as editor and deputy editor of Style, the paper's feature section, from 1986 to 1988. Her early years are still shrouded in mystery, probably having to do with her current marriage to Steve Clow, another DT alum. Truly a match made in heaven. They live in Agoura and have two children; a daughter, Gillian Clow, 9; and a son, Reid Clow, 6.

1999 - 2003 Personal recollections
Yvonne -- or "Evie," as many DT-ers know her -- is working at the St. Petersburg Times. The rain, of which there isn't any where she is now, would be much warmer there than at her previous gig on The Oregonian copy desk. She misses her "ex-husband," Peter Anthony Rasmussen (spring 2003's editor in chief).

1999 - 2003
Alex is now gainfully employed as, of all things, an accounting clerk. Alex spent all four years at the DT and jumped around as much as anyone who has worked the DT. "That has to be a first, a theatre editor becoming an assistant sports editor." He has now graduated and has been enjoying the big wide world called unemployment. He is trying to start a career and avoiding the pitfall of an actor -- waitering.

Nowadnik, Marc
Editor?
1974? - 1977?
Marc's entry here is particularly sobering to me. He is the first person I have heard about from the Daily Trojan who may be dead. Add the fact that I am told he died of AIDS in 1985, and that he is certainly not the oldest person on this list, and you have what to me is a lamentable entry in this list, even though I never knew him except though this web page. As time passes, I'll probably have to add a few more of these entries; it's all part of keeping a chronicle like this. I dread the next, and each one after. After you read this, please take a moment or two to keep in touch with the people here you know.

Nugent, Daphne
Staff Writer
1986 - 1986 Personal recollections
I have been working as a Market Research Director at Pfizer headquarters in New York City since 1994. I moved to Washington D.C. from LA in 1990 and have been on the East Coast ever since. I got married to Scott Laiken, a native New Yorker, in October of 2000. We had our first child, a beautiful girl, in September 2002. I love living in Manhattan, but I miss California. Though I went to DC to try, I was never able to make it as a journalist myself. So I sold out, did an MBA, and got a job in "Big Pharma". Now I just live the life vicariously through my journalist friends.

Nwaisser, Roy
Chief Photographer
1994 - 1999
Please forgive me if I have this spelled wrong. Roy is an alumni who has, according to his web page, "a B.A. in psychology, an M.S. in computer science, an M.A. in communication management, a law degree and a certificate in Web development." Look for his car, license plate USC SYCO. It's yellow and scares me. He has attended more than 100 consecutive home AND road USC football games. He now runs Team Santa Hats, a custom Santa hat-making company. You may have heard him being interviewed on the KEvin and Bean show; he got to round two of the interviews for "The Apprentice 2."
