The Concert

Last weekend, I went to a concert.  I can say without exaggeration, it rocked. It was a many-band event, with the two biggest being Duran Duran, and The Cure.

The ‘Net: Cool Then, Cool Again

I loved the Internet from the beginning, and I love it now, and it’s great to be reminded why every now and then.

Help, I’m an Impostor

At least, that’s what I’ve been accused of.  We’ll see what happens next.

The Amazing Race

Last weekend, well, last weekend was amazing.  My work buddy Mike planned a birthday party for himself the likes of which deserves a phrase as pompous as “the likes of which,” in which various teams competed as they raced around Los Angeles to solve puzzles and sample the historic and cultural highlights of the city.

Planet Light, Planet Bright

I expected Mars to be just like a bright star, but it wasn’t.  Mars was bright, huge, and red.  It stands out in the black sky like the little girl in the red dress in the movie Schindler’s List.

Overheard

“An unexamined life is not worth living.”

...who said it?

“BBFF (Best Bacon Friends Forever)”

...who said it?

“I find myself thinking of a checklist Wozniak wrote a few years ago describing how to become a genius. His advice was straightforward yet strangely terrible: You must clarify your goals, gain knowledge through spaced repetition, preserve health, work steadily, minimize stress, refuse interruption, and never resist sleep when tired. This should lead to radically improved intelligence and creativity. The only cost: turning your back on every convention of social life.”

...who said it?

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.”

...who said it?

“Ever have something in your teeth that you cannot stop tonguing?”

...who said it?
