Even just a little Tabasco sauce stings quite a lot when you get it in your eye.

The Cat’s Meow

No, it’s not about the cat.  It’s about today: Work, followed by a book reading by three authors, a nice candlelit dinner and walk home in the rain.

Cloudburst

Let’s discuss the word “cloudburst” for a second, shall we? If you’re like most people, you haven’t ever given the word “cloudburst” much consideration, because you’re in a car or a house. But today, I was in a different situation, and I suddenly started thinking a lot about the word.

Sting and Annie Lennox

I saw them in concert last night. It was a little different from the Prince concert I was at this summer.  For one thing, everyone sat politely for almost the whole show.

First Public Party

No, you haven’t been missing entries.  I added a few today and backdated them. Tonight, I went out to the Opus Hotel and refreshed myself with a little slice of Hollywood.

When Moving Sinks In

There are big signs that you’ve moved, and small signs.  One small sign hit home today. (Plus: we get our stuff from a fussy professional long-haul driver.)

Approaching Vancouver

We’re approaching Vancouver.  We’ve just made it through customs and immigration. It all went very smoothly.  In fact, the immigration officer asked us if we would build her a Web site—she wants to have an online store online in time for Christmas.

Overheard

“From the Victorian era through the 1950s, marriage was viewed as the source of all safety from a predatory world.”

...who said it?

“We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love.”

...who said it?

“To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.”

...who said it?

“Of all forms of caution, caution in love is perhaps the most fatal to true happiness.”

...who said it?

“There are two things a man can’t hide: that he is drunk & that he is in love.”

...who said it?
