In Defense of Wasted Time

I’m not the first person to say this, nor will I be the last, but I think wasted time gets a bad rap.

East Africa Project: Contribute to Great Independent Journalism

Just before Christmas, I made a donation to an independent journalism effort called the East Africa Project during its formation stage. Now that it’s underway I thought I’d suggest it as a worthy cause for others to support as well.

In the L.A. River Again

Susie and I are back in L.A. for a short business trip.

I haven’t had much time to blog.  There’s no time for anything in L.A.

George Came to Visit

I just heard from my friend George—he’s somewhere near ******, heading east. George and I are in closer touch now—I guess for two reasons.  One, is that he’s back State-side (which is also basically Canada-side if you look at a globe). And two, is that he came to stay at my house when he first got back, and we went together and bought a Mac laptop.  So now we have a bond that goes deeper than ever before.

My First Time Ever

I went to Calgary recently to visit my Mom and sister Nicole. I forgot my electric razor, which shaves as close as a blade or my money back.  Which is a bummer because you don’t just run to the store and get one of those.  What you do buy is a disposable razor. Which is kind of interesting because, in fact, though I’m 33—wait, no, 35—I have never before in my life ever shaved with a bladed razor.

I’m Back

Hi.  I’m Travis Smith. You may know me from such famous blogs as “Buzz Marketing with Blogs for Dummies blog” and “Hop Studios official blog”.

And, here’s the funny thing: I actually write THIS blog.  No, really.  Check back ... way back.  In fact, there was a time when I wrote fairly frequently for this blog.  Yeah, go figure.

Overheard

“BBFF (Best Bacon Friends Forever)”

...who said it?

“I find myself thinking of a checklist Wozniak wrote a few years ago describing how to become a genius. His advice was straightforward yet strangely terrible: You must clarify your goals, gain knowledge through spaced repetition, preserve health, work steadily, minimize stress, refuse interruption, and never resist sleep when tired. This should lead to radically improved intelligence and creativity. The only cost: turning your back on every convention of social life.”

...who said it?

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.”

...who said it?

“Ever have something in your teeth that you cannot stop tonguing?”

...who said it?

“ . . . the war situation has developed not necessarily to Japan’s advantage.”

...who said it?
