Overheard

“Finding oneself was a misnomer; a self is not found but made.”

...who said it?

“It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.”

...who said it?

“Subject: put on a happy face smile
Body: And don’t forget it. Happy wednesday! )”

...who said it?

“When I was a boy growing up in Kansas, a friend of mine and I went fishing and as we sat there on the warmth of a summer afternoon we talked about what we wanted to do when we grew up. I told him I wanted to be a major league baseball player, a genuine professional like Honus Wagner. My friend said that he’d like to be president of the United States. Neither of us got our wish.”

...who said it?

“To lengthen thy life, lessen thy meals.”

...who said it?

I remember that, and I remember thinking what bastards the Australian players were. They were playing a bunch of teenagers from American Samoa, many of whom had to borrow boots to play. I mean, after going up about 15-0, why not just have a kick-around with the kids?
