The heat’s off at our house, so I’m huddled around the computer to keep warm.

Our heater’s pilot light went out yesterday, and it took us a while to realize it.  I couldn’t get it relit, despite my lighter shaped like a giant match.  The repairman comes tomorrow.

Meanwhile I’m enjoying the first two consecutive days without social engagements in more than a month.  Well, except Monique and James came over for dinner last night.  But that wasn’t planned, that was more a matter of “hey, you’re here to pick up books, do you want some lamb chops while you’re standing there?”

Susie and I finished tallying up the books on Hop Studios’s financial year today.  Let’s just say that hiring Matt has turned out to be a good thing, and that I may in fact spring for a Wii instead of a Gamecube.  Hooray!

I’m about to post some photos of the New Year’s party.  There were about 25 people, and it was so so so much fun, so thanks very much to everyone who came, bring with them so much good spirits.  And by good spirits, I mean champagne.  And by bringing, I mean drinking.

Today was the day we dragged the Christmas tree out to the lane.  There’s a hole in our living room where it stood.  It was so much fun to have my closest family around this year.  It’s been a while since I did a multi-family Christmas.  There’s truth in the saying “the more the merrier,” and it was a very merry christmas indeed.  Next year, I hope to spend it with even more of my immediate family—but we’ll see what happens.

New Year’s Resolutions?  I have a few, but then again, too few to mention.  Mostly, I resolve to sit up straight, keep healthy, do a better job of connecting with friends, and keep a good work/life balance.  We’ll see how that goes.
