Travis Smith: my resume, bio and photos back to the main blog page

There are four seasons in L.A.: Fire season, mudslide season, smog season and academy award season.

Award season is starting this week.  I know this because my parking garage at work double parks cars, and if you’re in one of the “behind” spots, you have to leave your keys with the parking attendant.  The attendant gives you a parking chit so you can get your keys back later.  And this week, on the back side of the 2” x 4” parking chit, appeared a full color glossy ad for “Road to Perdition,” this summers moody gangster flick starring Tom Hanks.

It’s mostly out of theaters now, but it’s hardly out of the running for the Oscars!  What better way to reach well-heeled L.A. Academy voters, than to give them a “For Your Consideration” ad every time they valet their car?  If your valet recommends it, it must be good…

Overheard

“I swore with my hand on the Bible to uphold the Constitution. I didn’t swear with my hand on the Constitution to uphold the Bible.”

...who said it?

“Buy anything you want at the grocery store; cooking is always cheaper than eating out.”

...who said it?

“There are two things in this world that take no skill: 1. Spending other people’s money and 2. Dismissing an idea.”

...who said it?

“Violence is a choice a man makes and he alone is responsible for it.”

...who said it?

“Oh boy! Another great opportunity for personal growth!”

...who said it?
