Here's a quick pointer for anyone trying to import from blogger into Expression Engine from pMachine.
First go to this site and watch the demo. Then, remember that if you want to import comments, you also need to change the comment time stamp (in addition to the entry time stamp). Then, use this template:
Then, because Blogger doesn't let you get the person's URL separate from their name, and because it codes names differently depending on whether they're registered or not, run this search and replace:
If that was all gibberish to you, then you'd probably like most of the rest of what I write here, but since I just spent two hours figuring this all out, I thought I'd share.
“Do stuff. Be clenched, curious. Not waiting for inspiration’s shove or society’s kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. It’s all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager. Stay eager.”
“When, after a few years or a few months of a relationship, we find that we’re still unfulfilled, we blame our partners and take up with somebody more promising. This can go on and on—series polygamy—until we admit that while a partner can add sweet dimensions to our lives, we, each of us, are responsible for our own fulfillment. Nobody else can provide it for us, and to believe otherwise is to delude ourselves dangerously and to program for eventual failure every relationship we enter.”
I am interested in your post even if it is a few years old.
I am a little confused by the second part of your research for the search an replace.
Where/when do I run this? DO I paste it into the Blogger "Template" text area below the other text you posted to grab the posts in addition to the comments?
Also after I follow the instructions for the export fo files from Blogger can I/ how do I restore my Blogger blog to keep running the way it always has prior to this export while I work on my new EE site?
Any inof you can share with me will be greatly appreciated.
You can scroll right easily by holding down the SHIFT key and using your scroll wheel. (Firefox users trying this will end up jumping to old Web pages until a) Firefox releases a fix, b) they change their settings like so.)
