You know, I have this handy little button on my browser that opens up a new browser window, and yet it goes seriously underused sometimes...

Yesterday was a retro day for me from start to finish.  I broke in a new “To Do” book, which is my old-school, pen-and-paper way of keeping track of what I have to do.  I do also use a Palm Pilot and Web based calendar and such, but for basically telling me what I’m doing, pen and paper are the way I go.

Boris noticed this, and also noticed that I’d taken in a roll of film, yes FILM, to be developed.  I’ve had this roll in my fridge for more than three years—it has all sorts of interesting things on it.  A graduation, a visit to Santa Barbara, a road trip, odd hats, old girlfriends, a funeral, cousings, motorbikes, a car accident and more.  It was like a time capsule and I can’t believe I moved it twice without developing it.

Yesterday was also a day of much driving around—which I haven’t done nearly as much of since I moved to Vancouver.  I barely used a tank of gas a month last year, and already this month I’ve filled up twice.  That’s what moving will do to you.

Speaking of filling tanks, there’s a bizarre peculiarity with Vanocouver gas stations.  The price at the pump is almost always (but not always) 3.5 cents less than the price on the sign.  What the hell kind of sense does that make?  And why are they allowed to advertise the wrong price?  If this was the U.S. someone would have sued them straight by now.

Oh, and I should point out that it’s now been 1 year, 1 month and 23 days since I last got my car washed.  In L.A I used to get the car done every two or three weeks.  A combination of lots of dust, lots of time spent looking at the hood of my car, and lots of sunshine in which to admire (or feel bad about) the shine of my car meant that I was always getting it washed.  Here, though, I just take it out of the garage and Presto, there’s water pouring down on it.  So while it’s really not too gross on the outside, a vacuum would probably do wonders for its appearance.
