OMG! Famous magazine and Web designer Roger Black still uses Eudora on his Mac! So do I! We’re like twins!
But I’ve learned other things today, too. I’ve learned that media literacy is an issue that adults think students and young folks need to learn about, but really, it’s adults who need it.
I’ve learned that starting at 7:00 a.m. EST means I’m getting up at the time I usually go to bed, and that even three Diet Cokes won’t make me any smarter even if I do seem wide awake.
I’ve learned that it’s delightful to meet one’s clients face-to-face, especially if it’s unplanned. And launching a Web site is tough when you’re at a conference, even if the wifi is great.
I’ve learned that no one, and I mean NO ONE, produces content at the pace of the folks from Northern Voice. One day into it, there are 80 Flickr photos tagged “wemedia” from this year, and 40 are from me. One day into Northern Voice, there were 1,200 photos.
And I’ve learned that I am unable to not eat cookies with M&Ms in them. yum!
“I find myself thinking of a checklist Wozniak wrote a few years ago describing how to become a genius. His advice was straightforward yet strangely terrible: You must clarify your goals, gain knowledge through spaced repetition, preserve health, work steadily, minimize stress, refuse interruption, and never resist sleep when tired. This should lead to radically improved intelligence and creativity. The only cost: turning your back on every convention of social life.”
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.”
You can scroll right easily by holding down the SHIFT key and using your scroll wheel. (Firefox users trying this will end up jumping to old Web pages until a) Firefox releases a fix, b) they change their settings like so.)
