OK, so the latest meme going around is go to Google and type in quotation marks your name and then “likes to” (e.g. “Tom likes to”). Type in the first ten things that come up and repost in your own note.  Here’s my list. Thanks, Siobahn!

1. But for some reason Travis likes to screw with it.

(This is a baseball story, innuendo be damned.)

2. “Travis likes to sew puppets…actually, he’s a major misfit,” Huser chuckled. “One of the things I focused on in the story is that Travis pursues his dream.”

But wait, there’s more about puppets later(see #4).

3. Travis likes to spend his summers helping his father with the family tow truck business.

And who wouldn’t?

4. To add to matters, Travis likes to sew and create puppets. This results in taunts and put-downs by Travis’ male classmates and by Mike.

Mike, you bastard.  I’m just pursuing my dream!

5. As Travis likes to say, “Wellness is an adventure not a medicine.”

Actually, wellness is a hole in the ground.

6. Travis likes to think he’s just passing through.

Actually, this is true.

7. travis likes to draw

Travis must also not like punctuation or captial letters.

8. Travis likes to say that, on his view, all representing is “situated”; and he explains this by saying that what a thought represents, hence the conditions under which it would be true, is jointly determined by meaning and circumstances.

I think Heidegger would disagree with me there.

9. More in line with a pro style Travis likes to pick his shots.

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your shots, but you can’t pick your friends nose or you’ll get shot.

10. When he’s not reporting, Travis likes to travel, listen to live music, run and read.

The picture on this one’s the best:

What does Google think you like to do?

Overheard

“Oh boy! Another great opportunity for personal growth!”

...who said it?

“I’m not bitter about what happened to me as a child, and my mother was instrumental in keeping me from being so. ... She taught me to be grateful for my life regardless of what that entailed, and that’s directly related to the image of Christ on the cross and the example of sacrifice that he gave us. What she taught me is that the deliverance God offers you from pain is not no pain—it’s that the pain is actually a gift. What’s the option? God doesn’t really give you another choice.”

...who said it?

After over a decade of user testing, it is clear that the way we search the web is similar to the way we would search our home for valuables as it was burning to the ground. Frantically.

...who said it?

“We must shift the focus of companies back to the customer and away from shareholder value ... The shift necessitates a fundamental change in our prevailing theory of the firm… The current theory holds that the singular goal of the corporation should be shareholder value maximization. Instead, companies should place customers at the center of the firm and focus on delighting them, while earning an acceptable return for shareholders.”

...who said it?

“We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.”

...who said it?
