Twelve Days of Christmas Food

I just got back from a long Christmas (I can say that, can’t I? I didn’t just go on a Happy Holiday...) vacation, and I’m unpacking.

By unpacking, I mean, I’m finding things to distract me from unpacking, which in turn is all that stands between me and cleaning the cat litter.

Susie is stuck in Toronto, I believe, and I had to run the length of the Vancouver airport.  Travelling over the hoildays is awful.

We came out ahead though—we got free tickets to anywhere in the U.S. because they mistakenly swapped the plane we had boarding passes on, for one that was exactly one row shorter.  We were in the last row. :(

Our trip was L.A. to Washington for Christmas, to Calgary for New Year’s, and then today Travis back to L.A. and Susie back to Washington for the rest of the week, then she also returns to L.A.

More details (and photos) of the trip to come later, but for now, let me say that L.A. is 80 degrees hotter than Calgary (it was -25C / -10 F there), and now that we have Kripy Kreme doughnuts in CA, I frankly see no need to travel beyond the county limits ever again.

(I’m just saying that because of the bad flights today.  Give me a week and I’ll be jonesing for another vacation, I’m sure).

Overheard

“An unexamined life is not worth living.”

...who said it?

“BBFF (Best Bacon Friends Forever)”

...who said it?

“I find myself thinking of a checklist Wozniak wrote a few years ago describing how to become a genius. His advice was straightforward yet strangely terrible: You must clarify your goals, gain knowledge through spaced repetition, preserve health, work steadily, minimize stress, refuse interruption, and never resist sleep when tired. This should lead to radically improved intelligence and creativity. The only cost: turning your back on every convention of social life.”

...who said it?

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.”

...who said it?

“Ever have something in your teeth that you cannot stop tonguing?”

...who said it?
