Update: The person from Min’s who originally called me to tell me about this, was, well, wrong, and made me look like a bit of an award-monger.  When it was announced to me, I even took the step of calling back to make sure it wasn’t a prank, but still the information was incorrect.  We won two, not three, awards, and got two, not one, honorable mention.  I’ve amended this entry to say what it should have said in the first place.

Here’s the note I sent the Web staff I work with…

Congratulations, staff.  We’ve won several awards in the Min Best of the Web Awards 2003 competition!

Variety is a winner in the…
“Premium Site”, and
“Uses of Interactivity” categories.

We also received a Honorable Mention in the “Design” and “Email Newsletter” categories. (Yay Michelle!)

Last year, we were the 2002 winner in one category—that of the Best Premium Site—so this is two years running in that top category.

As winners, we get…

  • A glass award for each category
  • Recognition in a press release that will go out soon
  • Listed in a congratulatory ads that will appear in many of min’s media publications (but not by name)
  • A warm and fuzzy feeling inside
  • Overheard

“I swore with my hand on the Bible to uphold the Constitution. I didn’t swear with my hand on the Constitution to uphold the Bible.”

    ...who said it?

“Buy anything you want at the grocery store; cooking is always cheaper than eating out.”

    ...who said it?

“There are two things in this world that take no skill: 1. Spending other people’s money and 2. Dismissing an idea.”

    ...who said it?

“Violence is a choice a man makes and he alone is responsible for it.”

    ...who said it?

“Oh boy! Another great opportunity for personal growth!”

    ...who said it?
