Travis Smith: my resume, bio and photos back to the main blog page

Matt asked me today: What do you think you do best?

Not better than anyone else in the world—you don’t have to be better than everything else.  But if you had to identify a particular skill or attribute—and you do, because that’s what I’m asking—that was your best skill, what would it be?

I said: I identify (computer) bugs.

Now your turn.

Overheard

“Even on the most exalted throne in the world we are only sitting on our own bottom.”

...who said it?

“Everyday, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”

...who said it?

“A man should ever be ready booted to take his journey.”

...who said it?

“From Obedience and submission comes all our virtues, and all sin is comes from self-opinion.”

...who said it?

“Man is the only animal whose existence is a problem that he has to solve.”

...who said it?

Noriko says she's good at: 1) cooking with whatever is on hand, and 2) waking up at after a specific amount of time without an alarm clock.

I think I'm good at: 1) drawing easy-to-understand diagrams (of all kinds of systems and things), and 2) identifying cars on the street.

Bugs? Who knew?

(P.S. I realize I didn't answer your question correctly. Two things each... Sorry.)

Jason,

That's OK. You're both just twice as talented as everyone else.

Mine's NSFW. Sorry I can't tell you, but this is a clean blog, is it not?

I have been told I'm pretty good at troubleshooting software bugs. Maybe because the voice in my head keeps asking "What about this? What if...?"

I can also pick the best thing to eat on a menu.
