In 2004, Christian Leu wrote an ExpressionEngine plugin called ECS. This handy tool let users search the Amazon product catalog for a single item by item number, or multiple items by keyword, and display them in the page with the latest prices, images, descriptions and more, straight from Amazon. It also was a handy way to create affiliate URLs. But in 2009, Amazon changed the security requirements (and the name) of its product search—and the ECS plugin no longer worked.
Hop Studios to the rescue! We’ve completely refactored Christian’s code, making it compatible with the latest Amazon product search API, and adding some additional useful features.
To use this tool you need a public/private key from AWS. Get one here.
If you need to search for and display Amazon products in your ExpressionEngine Web site, this is the way to do it! AWS Product 3.0.0 is compatible with EE 1.6.8 and EE 2.1.3, and requires PHP 5 with simple_xml.
