Hero Square monument

Hanna, cousin of a friend from Paris

A picture of muscular people playing ping pong. They must play a lot.

There's a pony in there.

Jimmy and Hanna.

You can't see it very well from the photo, but this traditional wood carver's tanned hands are absolutely covered with scars, on every available space. He's carving a wooden spoon with a horses's head.

A typical Budapest building, absolutely wonderful and in need of repair.

Miklos in the new office, in the spot where my desk would be.

View from the office balcony. We're far too close to Burger King for health.

Miklos and Dora talk with the carpenter about where to put our custom furniture.

The programmers will work in these dark rooms, far from the sun.

Planning Dora's reception desk.

Coke: It's everywhere you want to be.

The church by the customs office. I was tempted to appeal here to a higher authority, but I didn't want to lose my place in line.

Hotel with a good name. "Nap" means "day" in Hungarian.

My customs official.

The first office party. Maria, programmer, pours juice for Miklos.

L - R: Peter, Dora, Tamas, Travis, Miklos, Maria, Gyuri.

L - R: Peter, Dora, Tamas, Travis, Miklos, Maria, Gyuri.

Miklos announces a new client at the first office party.

Gyuri, bug tester and translator and Windows 95 wonk.

Miklos and Os get the first office network going.

Vaci utca at night -- pedestrian mall in downtown.

Os rolls a cigarette at the John Bull Pub.

My apartment building, view form the third floor. I live on the fourth. The woman seen through the window here sits there all day. Every day.

Grand market, the largest covered market in Europe.

They sell a lot of meat at the market.

-32 The pictures are of the Buda side of the river. The buildings are mostly of a university. The freedom bridge is visible as is the statue of liberty on the hill. This is the worst-lined up panoramic shot you'll ever see.

Freedom bridge and the statue again.

The are bullet holes left over from either WW II or the 1956 Revolution. This building is on a major pedestrian mall in downtown Budapest, and the building as been inhabited for all this time. The half of the rest of the city is in a similar state of neglect, but it's not any particular half.

That's all. E-mail me, or visit the home page.
