PensionPower is a project Friends of the Earth Canada designed to help pension fund members learn about the climate risk exposure of their savings. This simple one-page site lays out the problem: Canadian pension funds are heavily invested in big fossil fuel companies, and pension fund managers don’t always consider the full impact of climate change risks.
Visitors to the online tool can demand answers by filling out a brief form and sending it directly to one of the Canadian funds. The prepared text—available both in English and French—lays out the concerns of pension participants and requests specific information about how funds are handling concerns like climate change, fossil fuel investment, and renewable resource use.
